Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med Surg Resource Team Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year recent Medical Surgical experience in a busy large hospital with a minimum of 200 beds. License: Active RN License in North Dakota or compact state Certifications: BLS - must be AHA; NIHSS Must-Have: Active RN License in North Dakota or compact state Minimum of 1 year medical surgical experience, float pool experience preferred BLS - must be AHA; NIHSS certification required Description: The position requires a strong background in medical-surgical nursing. The nurse will perform head-to-toe assessments and administer medications through various routes. Care plan formulation and documentation are essential components of the role. Experience with wound, line, and drain care is also required. The nurse will be expected to float within the medical surgical cluster and between campuses. Familiarity with Epic EMR, Accudose Rx, Alaris IV pumps, and Philips vital machines is important. Candidates should have experience in a level 2 or higher trauma center. A fast-paced environment is expected, typically with more than 250 beds. Training includes one full shift on a medical-surgical unit and a team orientation. Nurse to patient ratios will vary, with 1:4-5 during the day shift and 1:5-6 at night. The position involves working weekends and holidays on an every-other basis. Floating across medical-surgical units including oncology, trauma, and cardiac specialties is required. The number of beds in the unit can range from 24-47 depending on the specific area of care.
