Assistant Controller

Base pay range $130,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr Assistant Director at Chesapeake Search Partners Chesapeake Search Partners is collbaroating with a growing media, polling and digital firm who is seeking a full time Assistant Controller to join the accounting team in Annapolis. This role is critical in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across daily accounting operations, reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and review daily cash reports; reconcile all bank accounts. Record ACH, wires, withdrawals, and flexible spending activity in NetSuite. Manage intercompany transfers and ensure funds are properly allocated. Create intercompany journal entries for shared expenses. Manage Accounts Payable runs, including ACH, checks, wires, and portal payments. Validate media reconciliation reports against job cost records. Prepare Client Advisor Fee payouts. Review unbilled cost reports to ensure accurate client invoicing. Coordinate with Employee Relations on payroll adjustments. Enter payroll, medical insurance, and disability insurance journal entries. Process interest payments online of credit funds. Update profit share spreadsheets and reconcile billable expenses. Perform month-end close in NetSuite. Disburse partner and profit share payments. Reconcile accrued accounts and review departmental financials. Request and reconcile media company statements for corporate clients. Assist with external accountant financial reviews. Support leadership with ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward CPA a plus). 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Proficiency with NetSuite or other ERP/accounting software. Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
