Cognitive Retraining Specialist

NeuroRestorative, a part of the Sevita family, provides rehabilitation services for people of all ages with brain, spinal cord and medically complex injuries, illnesses and other challenges. In a variety of locations and community-based settings, we offer a range of programs, including vocational and therapy programs, day treatments, and specialized services for infants, children, adolescents, Military Service Members and Veterans. Position Cognitive Retraining Specialist (Full‑Time) Travel requirement This is a traveling position. Location Canonsburg/Washington County area Hours & Pay Full‑Time (32+ hours per week). No weekends or holidays, no on‑call. Monday‑Friday 8 am‑5 pm. $20 per hour plus mileage reimbursement. Full benefits provided for those working 32+ hours weekly. Job summary The Cognitive Retraining Specialist assists individuals in developing skills to increase independence in their home and community. Each day is unique, working with 1–3 individuals for 3+ hours each, providing services in the client’s home, community, work or volunteer location. Responsibilities Develop compensatory memory strategies and systems Assist with budgeting, bill paying, planning and scheduling Develop consistent problem‑solving skills for everyday problems Promote initiation and follow‑through of activities Support effective communication and social skills Access and navigate the community safely Develop natural supports and provide family and community education Teach study skills and academic organization Facilitate vocational preparedness, including support with volunteering and competitive employment Training Extensive paid training is provided, typically about two weeks, followed by five weeks of mentorship. During this time staff also complete self‑directed Relias trainings. Career progression Opportunities to advance to Senior Cognitive Retraining Specialist, Clinical Coordinator or Clinical Supervisor. Requirements Must have a bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, Social Science or related fields such as medicine, neuropsychology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, sociology, counseling, rehabilitation science, recreation therapy, social work, special education or speech‑language pathology. Other disciplines are considered case‑by‑case. Must hold a valid driver’s licence for at least 12 months prior to start. No prior experience required.
