Role Summary

As a High School Science Teacher, you will inspire and support students in reaching their academic and scientific goals. You will deliver high-quality, inquiry-based instruction that aligns with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), implementing a rigorous curriculum in a supportive, student-centered environment. Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and our unique community partners, you will create a positive learning experience that empowers every student to see themselves as a scientist.

• Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in Science (9-12) (e.g., Biology , Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, or General Science).
• Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, required; Master's degree, preferred.
• Inquiry Expert: You thrive on project-based learning and know how to transform a complex concept into a hands-on lab experience.
• Equity Champion: You are committed to ensuring that all students especially those from underrepresented backgrounds have a front-row seat to STEAM excellence.

Your Impact (Key Duties)

• Inspire Discovery: Lead engaging, lab-heavy lessons that challenge students to apply the scientific method to real-world challenges.
• Foster Critical Thinking: Guide students in analyzing complex data, constructing evidence-based arguments, and communicating their findings effectively.
• Utilize Resources: Leverage our district's premier assets, including the Challenger Learning Center and Little Creek Nature Area, to provide immersive scientific experiences.
• Bridge the Curriculum: Partner with Math and CTE departments to highlight the interdisciplinary nature of modern science and technology.
• Promote Global Citizenship: Help students understand the ethical, social, and environmental implications of scientific advancement.

The Logistics of Your Success

• Classification: Exempt, Certified Staff
• Work Year: 10-Month Academic Calendar (187 Contract Days)
• Salary: Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule, determined by experience and education level.
