We are seeking a process-oriented and results-driven Manufacturing Engineer III to lead process development and improvement in a contract manufacturing environment at our Rancho Cordova, California site. The primary responsibility of this position is to apply high-level engineering principles to drive process improvements in the manufacturing of large-format steel products and medical device components to positively affect Quality, Delivery, Cost, Safety and Morale. Additionally, this position will be responsible for executing projects with limited supervision. We're looking for someone with a positive attitude and attention to detail who wants to grow professionally with high internal expectations.

This role supports base business improvement and/or new product launches, develops tooling and fixtures, implements lean methodology, investigates issues using root cause analysis, implements improvements, manages CAPAs, and creates documentation such as standard work and validation protocols. The engineer collaborates cross-functionally to optimize designs for manufacturability and cost and communicates effectively with internal teams and customers. The engineer owns quoting new business through all levels of the process.

Responsibilities:

• Follow all safety and quality requirements, including Quality Systems, company policies, operating procedures and applicable regulations.
• Create and implement lean processes in a cellular environment, including:
  – Large-format steel machining
  – Structural and precision welding (MIG, TIG and robotic)
  – Paint and coating systems (liquid and powder)
  – Heavy subassembly and mechanical assembly
  – Quality inspection of large-format components
• Perform root cause analysis to find and implement process improvements that eliminate waste.
• Define, produce and implement standard work and process work instructions.
• Investigate, develop and implement new process technologies.
• Communicate complex issues clearly to customers and internal team members.
• Create, review and approve engineering drawings, equipment layouts, change orders and specifications.
• Develop the tooling, fixtures and equipment used in manufacturing to improve productivity and reduce cost.
• Own and manage CAPAs within assigned areas.
• Work with development, programmers, machinists and suppliers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and cost reduction.
• Create and carry out validation protocols, process evaluations and material evaluations.
• Identify, justify and carry out detailed engineering project plans with minimal supervision.
• Plan and launch new products in a contract manufacturing environment.

The Successful Candidate Will

• Meet or exceed the expectations of internal and external customers.

Engineering or bachelor's degree in a technical field.

• 7+ years of work experience in similar technical roles including medical device or industrial manufacturing.

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Ability to provide solid rationale and justification for process improvement change requests.

• Ability to work in a team environment.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Working knowledge of ISO and GD&T.

• Understanding of large-format steel machining, structural welding, paint/coating systems, heavy subassembly, and quality inspection is strongly preferred.

• Lean manufacturing and new product development or launch support experience is highly desirable.

• Experience in medical device or energy infrastructure manufacturing is preferred.
