Exercise Physiologist-Full Time (M, Tu, W, F, 7-4:30)

Job Summary To provide care that is patient and family centered in both inpatient and outpatient environments that exemplifies best practice, fosters relationship based care and maintains the integrity of professional exercise physiologist standards. Practice care guidelines are based on the ANA code of ethics, professional code of conduct and standards from American Society of Exercise Physiologists, and regulatory agency standards by which the exercise physiologists provides care in collaboration with the RN and/or RT. Job Description Essential Responsibilities Fiscal Uses time productively and supplies and equipment judiciously. Supports leadership and implementation of scheduling and supply change to provide quality, cost effective care. Provides accurate, timely documentation for patient charges. Charts and documents initial and daily assessment data in patient records. Perform diagnostic cardiac stress tests; cardiolite treadmills, lexiscan, stress echo, dob echo, and dob cardiolite. Identify EKG arrhythmias at rest and stress. Place heart monitors and address MD notifications. Quality Interacts as a team player and participates in continuous quality improvement activities, data gathering, and change process within the organization. Contributes expertise as a member of a multidisciplinary team to offer comprehensive treatment strategies to provide positive outcomes for individual participants and for the programs offered. Patient Satisfaction Takes steps to improve patient satisfaction with care, assisting the RN to develop strategies to improve patient/significant other/family satisfaction. Understands and utilizes contemporary theories of health behavior change in helping participants identify learning and lifestyle modification goals. Assesses patient's risk factors that are modifiable and demonstrates ability to offer support and strategies to aid patient in therapeutic lifestyle changes (TLC). Demonstrates use of relationship based care model. Patient Safety Supervises exercise session, monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise. Effectively applies knowledge of exercise science to a population with cardiovascular and pulmonary disease and other potential conditions. Immediately reports any new, changing and/or significant conditions. Applies safety principles in provision of patient care and follows safety, fire, hazardous waste disposal and emergency response plans. Professional Growth Identifies own limitations and seeks assistance when needed and demonstrates a willingness to strive toward proficiency in the core competencies. Participates in department/unit development initiative. Shares knowledge and skills with colleagues and others and serves as content or skill expert. Completes new hire orientation and ongoing mandatory education. Identifies professional needs and collaborates with management for learning opportunities for self and others. Performs follow up on recognized needs and correction plans. Customer Service Exemplifies excellent guest relations to patients, visitors, physicians and co‑workers. Provides a professional and quiet patient environment, be flexible with assignments, staffing needs and assigned shifts. Practice AIDET (Acknowledge, Identify, Duration, Explanation, Thank You). Promote commitment to co‑workers, view all staff as part of an equal team and be approachable at all times, and maintain interdepartmental relationships. Provide holistic care for diverse patient populations. Education and Experience Required Graduate of an academic program with bachelor’s degree in health or exercise science. Proficient user of computer required.
