Job Title Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown Location Wilmington, NC | Cardiac Stepdown Schedule / Job Type Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 36 Hours/Week | 13–26 Week Assignments Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown unit managing diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, Aortic Stenosis/Regurgitation, Cardiomyopathy, Endocarditis, and related vascular conditions Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and oversee post-MI, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and post-DCCV care Manage and titrate cardiac drips; provide care for patients following CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, and other cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries Operate and monitor specialized equipment including arterial lines, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), epicardial pacing wires, Doppler, bladder scanner, and EKG Perform sheath management and removal; provide non-invasive airway management including external CPAP/BiPAP and nasal cannula; NIHSS certification required for applicable patient populations Document using EPIC (SBAR communication), administer medications via Pyxis, and adhere to unit float rotation as assigned; contract staff must be available to serve on Storm/Hurricane Teams during catastrophic events Required Qualifications Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission) Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required Travel nursing experience required unless the candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac-specific experience BLS and ACLS certifications required NIHSS certification required Must pass EKG testing prior to start Local candidates are welcome; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a local rate Preferred Experience / Skills Arterial line management experience Wound care and wound VAC experience Charge nurse experience Why Join Us Work in a high-acuity cardiac stepdown environment with exposure to a wide range of complex cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical cases and specialized procedures Flexible contract lengths (13–26 weeks) with a structured orientation and a collaborative unit environment that does not place travel staff first to float Concentric Healthcare Staffing Job ID 774986.
