Every other weekend required. Target ratios of 1:6 for Medical/Surgical/Telemetry patients or 1:4 for Progressive Care Unit level patients. 12-hour orientation provided. Highlights: Emergency Department Holding support position located within the Float Pool, caring for admitted patients awaiting inpatient beds Fast-paced environment with diverse adult medical/surgical diagnoses and progressive care level acuity Electronic Medical Records system: Epic; medication dispensing via Pyxis Contract duration: 13 weeks with hard stop date of February 27, 2027 to support through the holiday season Floating required to Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical areas as needed based on hospital census Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Respiratory Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Social Services Requirements: Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted) Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required Previous travel nursing experience required Current BLS and ACLS certifications mandatory Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start date Core competencies: Medical/Surgical and Telemetry experience, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, ventilator support (BiPAP/CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula), chest tube management, and central/peripheral line care Preferred skills: NIHSS certification, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, CVA care, neurosurgery patients, orthopedic trauma, and wound care Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered) Flexibility to work during catastrophic events or disaster situations as part of Storm/Hurricane Team Why It's a Great Opportunity: This challenging and dynamic role offers experienced travel nurses the opportunity to utilize advanced clinical skills across multiple patient populations in a high-acuity setting.
