Details Work in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit with 4 ORs and 31 rooms/beds Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month Patient ratio of 1:1-2 Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and may float to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care Uses Epic EMR Uses electronic fetal monitoring equipment Administers medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration Required certifications: BLS, NRP Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate Minimum 3-5 years of RN experience in a high acuity, high-pace Labor and Delivery environment required Minimum 3 years of high-risk L&D experience required; 5 years highly preferred Epic EMR experience required Must be able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide continued newborn care until transfer to postpartum Must be able to circulate for deliveries Must be able to provide newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments Current supervisory references required Proof of required certifications required for consideration Current Nursys verification required Must pass clinical review Additional Information Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and recovering C-section patients Manage high-risk conditions such as hemorrhage/shock and pregnancy-induced hypertension Administer medications including Pitocin, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, and Terbutaline Provide neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, and neonatal resuscitation Support postpartum care including couplet care, breastfeeding/lactation support, and wound assessment Perform fetal monitoring and recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) Pre-approved time off considered on a case-by-case basis and must be requested upfront Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate Local radius rule of 50 miles applies Former permanent Providence staff may return as travelers after a 3-month separation, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required, which may include Charge RNs or Leads American Traveler Job ID P-750504.
