Organization Nursing ROCU Job Summary Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards. Shift Details Three 12-hour shifts per week for a total of 36 hours from 6:30 p – 7:00 a. Weekend requirement: 3–4 weekend shifts in a 6‑week scheduling period. Call requirement: 3–4 on‑call shifts in a 6‑week scheduling period (rarely called). Requirements 1 year of relevant RN experience Active RN license Graduate of an approved discipline program What You’ll Do The Resource RN will float between MRI, ROCU (Recovery and Observation Care Unit for IR patients), PET, CT and IV Cubby, acting as a resource to various radiology areas. The role will be the first to respond to stat or rapid calls, access ports, monitor pacemakers, etc. Nuclear medicine responsibilities include: Cardiac stress perfusion studies on mainly adults and children Stress testing in the PET department, using Regadenoson, Adenosine, Dobutamine or treadmills Viability studies in PET to test for hibernating myocardium using high‑dose insulin drips combined with glucose and potassium Brain mapping/stress with Diamox or adenosine Sarcoid studies in PET using heparin Monitoring mapping patients after procedures in Interventional Radiology Coronary CTA with metoprolol IV, diltiazem IV and nitroglycerin Assisting thyroid cancer patients with Iodine therapies and testing Teaching nuclear medicine students patient care curriculum (direct patient care, vital signs, EKG rhythm interpretation) Key Responsibilities Collaborate in establishing the plan of care, coordinate and implement care delivery while anticipating patient needs across the continuum. Analyze comprehensive information to determine nursing diagnosis. Utilize the nursing process to evaluate patient progress and apply interventions for effective outcomes. Promote health and a safe environment. Additional duties may be assigned. Technical Capabilities Care Planning (Novice): Anticipate resource needs, prioritize tasks, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changes with minimal disruption. Nursing Patient Education (Novice): Provide patient education in moderate difficulty scenarios. Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Novice): Conduct primary patient interviews and physical exams, gather clinical data, and facilitate referrals. Evidence‑Based Practice (Novice): Search for evidence to answer clinical questions under guidance.
