RN Labor and Delivery

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides specialized nursing care to high-risk perinatal patients at a Level II NICU facility. This role involves managing labor, delivery, antepartum, and postpartum care with a focus on 1:1 labor support, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to established clinical protocols. The nurse will work in a fast-paced environment supporting 200+ annual deliveries, ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes through skilled assessment, monitoring, and intervention. Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 nursing care during labor and delivery, ensuring continuous assessment and support.
• Manage antepartum and postpartum patient care, maintaining appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios (1:3 couplets postpartum, 1:2-3 antepartum).
• Collaborate with obstetricians, CRNAs, surgical techs, CNAs, and health unit coordinators to deliver comprehensive maternity services.
• Perform fetal monitoring using AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring protocols.
• Assist in operating room and PACU settings as needed for deliveries and surgical interventions.
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic medical records.
• Participate in float assignments to postpartum units as required.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Active Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in labor and delivery or high-risk perinatal care.
• BCLS, ACLS, NRP certifications required.
• AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring certification.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

• Experience in facilities with 200+ annual deliveries preferred; candidates with 100-200 deliveries experience may be considered.
• Prior experience in Level II NICU or high-risk perinatal units.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic charting system.

• Weekend work and float to postpartum required.
• Call is not required for this position.
• Strict adherence to RTO policies; all requests must be submitted at time of application.
• Work environment includes labor and delivery, antepartum, postpartum, operating rooms, and PACU.
• Scrub color restrictions apply; reddish orange is not permitted.

• 12-hour shifts with guaranteed hours; clinicians may be called off for one 12-hour shift per two-week period.
• Shift assignments include day and night coverage to support 24/7 maternity services.
