About the Role
The Company is in search of a Deputy General Counsel to join its Office of the General Counsel. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal assistance and guidance on a wide range of issues, including the development of policies and procedures, the budget process, and specific programs and projects. This role involves supervising a team of attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff, as well as ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The Deputy General Counsel will also be involved in research, drafting legal documents, and coordinating responses to public record requests. Interaction with senior staff, the Executive Office of Administration and Finance, and the Governor's Office of Legal Counsel is a key aspect of the position. Applicants for the Deputy General Counsel position at the company should have a Juris Doctorate, a current license to practice law in Massachusetts, and a minimum of 5 years' of legal experience, with a focus on complex transactional work. Experience in affordable housing programs, land use, government administration, and procurement is strongly preferred. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record in managing and overseeing staff, as well as the ability to exercise initiative and respond effectively to unanticipated events. The ideal candidate will be skillful in drafting and negotiating complex agreements, have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and be adept at fostering collaborative working relationships. Knowledge of federal and state laws related to affordable housing, land use, and procurement is essential.
