Director of Marketing
Jimerson Birr, P.A.
Director of Marketing Department: Sales and Marketing
Employment Type: Full Time Location: Jacksonville, Florida Description About the Role We are looking for a Director of Marketing who likes to figure things out, build what is missing, and make things work better. This is not a role for someone who wants to simply manage a marketing calendar or oversee a collection of agencies. The Director of Marketing owns the firm's demand generation, go-to-market execution, brand positioning, marketing performance, and marketing technology environment and is accountable for turning those pieces into a predictable engine for growth. You will have significant latitude to determine how the work gets done. You'll diagnose what is working and what isn't, prioritize the highest-impact opportunities, build systems and campaigns, solve problems, test new approaches, and move quickly from idea to execution. You'll work across marketing, sales, client onboarding, product development, and leadership to make sure the entire client journey works as one system. Some days will be strategic. Some will be highly tactical. Some will involve solving a problem nobody has encountered before. That's intentional. We are looking for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, complexity, and the satisfaction of turning an unclear problem into a clear solution. Key Responsibilities What You'll Do
Own the Demand Engine
You don't need to have worked in a law firm. What matters more is that you know how to build a marketing engine, solve problems, make decisions, and produce measurable results in a complex professional environment. Benefits Why Join Us This is an opportunity to build the marketing engine-not inherit a finished one. At Jimerson Birr, the Director of Marketing has a broad mandate and real ownership. You will have the opportunity to shape the firm's demand strategy, build systems, improve the technology stack, develop the team, experiment with new approaches, and directly influence the firm's growth. You will not be expected to follow a rigid playbook simply because it is the way something has always been done. We expect you to question it. If a process is inefficient, improve it.
If a campaign isn't working, figure out why.
If the technology is holding the team back, find a better solution.
If an opportunity exists, build a plan and pursue it.
If you don't know the answer, investigate it-or find the person who does. You will have the autonomy to make decisions within your area of ownership, access to leadership when strategic alignment is needed, and the resources and expertise to tackle problems that extend beyond your own experience. For someone who enjoys solving hard problems, building better systems, moving quickly, and seeing the results of their work , this is a role with a lot of room to make your mark.

Own the Demand Engine
- Own the firm's demand generation strategy across outbound, organic, relationship, web, paid, SEO, content, events, and partnerships.
- Determine where the firm should focus its marketing resources based on business priorities, client segments, and expected return.
- Build and continuously improve the systems that turn marketing activity into qualified opportunities.
- Diagnose gaps in the funnel and determine what needs to change.
- Focus the team on qualified demand and business outcomes-not vanity metrics.
- Balance short-term opportunities with longer-term investments in market position and demand.
- Translate firm and revenue goals into executable go-to-market campaigns.
- Own campaigns from concept through launch, measurement, iteration, and completion.
- Define the audience, offer, message, call to action, follow-up path, and ownership for each campaign.
- Determine what should be tested, changed, paused, or scaled based on performance.
- Move quickly when something is not working rather than allowing underperforming initiatives to linger.
- Identify opportunities to simplify or improve how marketing gets done.
- Continuously evaluate the firm's marketing processes, technology, data, and workflows.
- Identify inefficiencies, gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for automation.
- Build new processes when existing ones no longer make sense.
- Evaluate and implement technology that improves marketing effectiveness or efficiency.
- Own the integrity of marketing data, attribution, audience information, and deliverability.
- Partner with IT and other firm leaders to integrate marketing technology into the firm's broader technology environment.
- Stay curious about emerging tools, including AI, and determine where they can create meaningful business value.
- Establish and maintain a clear, differentiated market position for the firm.
- Ensure messaging is consistent across campaigns, channels, and client touchpoints.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen the firm's credibility, reputation, and thought leadership.
- Oversee thought leadership distribution, public relations, and awards.
- Balance creativity and experimentation with the professional and regulatory requirements of a law firm.
- Set priorities and create clarity around what matters most.
- Give team members the context and authority they need to execute effectively.
- Hold the team accountable for commitments, performance, and results.
- Remove obstacles and solve issues that prevent progress.
- Develop people while maintaining a high standard for execution.
- Build an environment where people are expected to think, solve, and take ownership-not simply wait for instructions.
- Own the marketing scorecard and the relationship between marketing activity and revenue.
- Track spend, pipeline contribution, consults, new clients, channel performance, and acquisition cost.
- Identify which activities produce meaningful business results.
- Use data to determine where to invest, where to adjust, and where to stop.
- Continuously improve the marketing system based on what the numbers and the market are telling you.
- 5+ year's experience leading marketing, demand generation, growth, revenue marketing, or a similarly broad marketing function.
- Demonstrated ability to turn business objectives into marketing strategy and executable initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Experience building and improving marketing systems, processes, and workflows.
- Experience managing multiple marketing channels and understanding how they work together.
- Strong project management skills and a demonstrated ability to take initiatives from concept through completion.
- Comfort working with marketing technology, data, automation, analytics, and AI-enabled tools.
- The ability to quickly learn unfamiliar systems and technologies.
- Strong judgment about when to solve a problem yourself and when to bring in specialized expertise.
- Experience leading and developing a team while maintaining high standards for execution.
- The ability to prioritize effectively when there are more opportunities than resources.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively with executives, attorneys, marketers, sales professionals, and outside vendors.
- A track record of identifying inefficient or outdated approaches and replacing them with better ones.
- A practical, results-oriented approach to marketing.
