Summary

This is a pipeline requisition for potential shipboard Trades for fleet modernization in the San Diego, CA area. These Trades will be supporting our Platform Modernization department working on active class submarines, surface ships, and shore-based communication facilities using various mechanical tools to install, upgrade and remove industrial equipment to assist with alterations and installations. Selected candidates will be required to travel to shipyards and military bases located around or out of the country when not assigned to a local task. Per Diem provided based on location when on travel, travel and lodging expenses are covered by the company.

We are hiring across multiple levels and trades specialties (Welders, Mechanics, Electricians, Electronics Technicians, Pipefitters, General Laborers) and welcome applicants with a range of Trades experience. Trades Assistant (HS diploma or equivalent) - Salary $20.76 - $21 an hour

Tradesperson 1 (HS diploma and 1-year related experience, or Trade School or equivalent.) - Salary $21 - 22 an hour

Tradesperson 2 (High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 2 years of related experience.) - Salary $25 - $27 an hour

Tradesperson 3 (High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience.) - Salary $28 - $32 an hour

Tradesperson 4 (High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience.) - Salary $31 - $38 an hour

Tech Subject Matter Expert (High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 8 years of related experience, to include specific systems expertise.) - Salary $35 - $44 an hour

What You Will Do

Perform installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and modification of structure, equipment, and systems across various platforms and technical environments. Support system upgrades, removals, troubleshooting, and modernization efforts using appropriate technical tools and methods. Conduct technical support on equipment, integrated systems, and associated software at customer or field locations. Evaluate system performance, diagnose malfunctions, and resolve issues efficiently. Coordinate work in alignment with engineering changes and maintain effective communication with customers. May provide onsite training to support personnel. Apply knowledge of production methods, processes, and procedures while assisting with technical documentation such as work packages, procedures, test documents, and reports. Perform tasks outside the primary specialty when needed to complete assignments.

What You Must Have

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.

• Must be able to obtain base and ship access.

• Must be able to work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts or work orders as well as written and verbal instruction as needed.

• High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 0 - 8 years of related experience.

• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.

Preferred Requirements

• Candidate with experience/knowledge in various welding processes in all positions. **Welder Candidates must be able to demonstrate welding ability on needed processes through qualification testing and pass with a satisfactory grade from our Quality Assurance Team within the first three weeks from start date for continued employment.
• Alteration Installation Team (AIT) experience.
• Candidates with current welding/electrical/mechanical/pipefitting experience. Certifications are highly desired.
• Candidates with shipboard experience are highly desired.
• Candidates who are currently enrolled or have graduated from and/or completed a vocational school or skilled trades certificate program are preferred.
• Current OSHA 10 Maritime Certificate a plus.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
