Banking & Capital Markets Tax Manager – New York, NY Specialty/Competency: Industry Tax Practice • Industry/Sector: Banking and Capital Markets • Time Type: Full time • Travel Requirements: Up to 20% Core Responsibilities Advises clients on local and overseas tax affairs, acting as a strategic consultant on business analysis, working capital, and profit sharing for partners. Provides guidance on the pricing implications of goods and services between related parties and the tax implications of deals. Helps clients navigate the complex national and international tax environment related to capital requirements, operational tax risks, and tax implications of investing in various jurisdictions. Assists clients with tax structuring while addressing the challenges of a constantly changing tax world, both locally and globally. Develops new skills outside of comfort zone, resolves issues that hinder team effectiveness, coaches others, and recognises their strengths. Analyzes complex proposals and builds meaningful recommendations using diverse sources of information. Uses data and insights to inform conclusions and supports decision‑making. Develops a point of view on key global trends and their impact on clients, managing diverse viewpoints to build consensus. Simplifies complex messages, highlighting and summarising key points. Upholds the firm’s code of ethics and business conduct. Leads technology‑enabled tax advisory work, driving digitisation, automation, and increased efficiencies. Provides unparalleled technical knowledge and industry insights, leveraging the One Firm knowledge framework to solve clients’ needs. Conducts client discussions, actively communicates a broad range of services, and manages engagements, preparing concise, accurate documents while balancing project economics. Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; 4+ years of experience in tax consulting; CPA or equivalent (such as a Bar membership). Preferred: Extensive record of success in tax issues for multinational U.S. companies or publicly traded entities, especially in tax consulting, reporting, and compliance. Proven expertise as a tax technical professional, researching business and industry trends to develop actionable viewpoints. Experience in automation and digitisation, including developing and experimenting with new technologies, and working with large, complex data sets to build models and visualisations. Strong background in pricing, client value, negotiation, and contract review. Demonstrated client‑centric approach: participates in client discussions, communicates Firm services, and manages engagements efficiently. Hands‑on experience with corporate planning, compliance, tax accounting and financial reporting, including tax provision preparation, ASC 740 techniques, and use of tax tools such as Corptax or OneSource. Research skills using Westlaw, RIA, CCH and other resources. Team leadership experience: monitors workloads, provides timely feedback, and communicates progress to leadership.
