About the Role
The Company is in search of a Chief Engineering Officer to lead its Engineering Department with a primary focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and the maintenance and repair of infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for the direct oversight of the safety, inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, reliability, and state of good repair of the company's engineering infrastructure, including track, structures, line, and signal. This senior leadership role demands a visible, hands-on approach, with the expectation that the Chief Engineering Officer will establish and maintain a culture of safety and compliance, develop and enforce standards, and ensure that all work is properly planned and executed. The role also involves close collaboration with the Senior Director of Capital Projects and Structures and requires the ability to lead effectively during emergencies and high-pressure situations. Applicants for the Chief Engineering Officer position at the company should have a significant background in railroad track, maintenance-of-way, or closely related railroad infrastructure work, with a strong preference for those with over ten years' experience. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record in supervising and leading maintenance employees, a thorough knowledge of railroad engineering practices, and experience in managing safety, maintenance programs, and budgets. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, and while not mandatory, professional engineer licensure is desirable.
