Location 530 Center street,Salem, OR, 97301,United States Base Pay $31.31 - $36.71 / Hour Job Category Oregon Specialty Group Description Position Overview The Staff Accountant supports the organization's financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing and posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, supporting the monthly and annual close processes, preparing financial reports and supporting schedules, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and organizational policies. This role works collaboratively with the Accounting, Payroll, Human Resources, and Leadership teams to provide timely and accurate financial information, maintain effective internal controls, and support continuous improvement of accounting processes. The Staff Accountant handles sensitive financial information with a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity. This is a full-time position. The scheudle is Monday - Friday and the hours are 8am-4:30pm with a 30-minute lunch. Essential Job Functions Prepare, review, and post recurring, standard, and adjusting journal entries. Complete monthly account reconciliations and assist with month-end and year-end close. Prepare recurring financial reports and supporting schedules. Research and resolve discrepancies identified during account reconciliations and the financial close process. Reconcile and audit company credit card transactions. Assist with budget management, reporting, and variance analysis. Assist with tax filing preparation and provide schedules and supporting documentation for tax filings and audits. Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed. Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with internal controls, organizational policies and GAAP. Assist with maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and documentation. Handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion. Maintain organized electronic and physical accounting records in accordance with organizational retention requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned by management, for which appropriate training will be provided, to support departmental objectives and organizational success. Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance is necessary to perform the responsibilities of this position, maintain appropriate coverage and continuity of work and patient care, and support timely and effective operations. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, be punctual, remain available during assigned work hours, and follow established procedures for reporting absences or schedule changes. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2–4 years of progressively responsible accounting experience. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft 365. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Healthcare or medical practice accounting experience. Experience with Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systems. Experience with month-end and year-end close. Experience with budgeting and variance analysis. Experience supporting external audits. Demonstrates exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Maintains confidentiality and professionalism.
