We are seeking a Sr. Production Supervisor, 1st Shift to join our federal team at our York, PA Grantley plant location.
\n Johnson Controls Navy Systems (JCNS) designs and manufactures high‑reliability chilled water A/C plants, refrigeration systems, and related equipment for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. All products are built in York, PA to strict military and customer specifications.  The Sr. Production Supervisor leads a team of welding and fabrication trades responsible for producing large, complex A/C plant components. This role ensures team performance in safety, quality, cost, and delivery, while coordinating work across all shifts and supervising up to 30 employees.

Pay: $76,100 - $95,000 base salary.  (Negotiable based on experience and qualifications)
\n Bonus Eligible: Yes
\n Shift: 1st Shift
\n Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment
\n Paid Time Off: 3 weeks paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays (6.5 weeks in total)

As a Sr. Production Supervisor, you will:

\n

\n
• Build strong relationships with employees to drive productivity and best practices.
\n
• Remove barriers, resolve conflicts, and promote a collaborative, team‑first environment.
\n
• Work cross‑functionally to support continuous improvement and meet plant goals.
\n
• Supports the development and standardize work practices to improve quality and reduce errors.
\n
• Monitor material non‑conformances and variances; take action to strengthen fabrication processes.
\n
• Ensure adherence to work instructions and maintain proper 6s/housekeeping.
\n
• Champion a safety‑first culture and enforce all safety procedures.
\n
• Coordinate daily/weekly production plans with department leaders.
\n
• Review backlog, prioritize at‑risk orders, and work with production control on scheduling.
\n
• Provide training for new hires and ongoing training for all employees; maintain training records.
\n
• Enforce plant rules, policies, and procedures; address conflicts when needed.
\n
• Verify quality‑readiness of units and confirm required documentation before inspection.
\n
• Assess staffing needs, participate in hiring, and support employee development.
\n
• Ensure on‑time unit starts to meet shipping goals.
\n
• Maintain daily labor and attendance records.
\n

Required Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide unionized manufacturing teams in a fast‑paced environment.
\n
• Excellent communication, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills.
\n
• Strong relationship‑building and coaching abilities.
\n
• Experience in heavy manufacturing preferred.
\n
• Welding knowledge desired; Navy welding standards NAVSEA 248/278.
\n
• Proven problem‑solving abilities.
\n
• Experience in a union environment preferred.
\n
• Knowledge of continuous improvement manufacturing systems (6s, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma)
\n
• Knowledge of quality management systems ISO9001:2015 & ISO14001:2015).
\n
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Experienced with Lean implementation
\n
• Experienced with supervising Union/Manufacturing employees (Up to 30 direct reports)

\n

\n

Preferred Education:

\n

\n
• Associate degree required; 12 years of relevant experience with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
\n
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 8 years of relevant experience with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
\n
