Lead Health Information Specialist

Overview Datavant is the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare. This position processes all release of information (ROI), specifically medical record requests, in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring customers receive high-quality product and service. The role safeguards patient privacy and ensures releases comply with requests, authorization, company policy and HIPAA regulations. This is an intermediate level position with at least 1 year related HIM experience. This is an onsite role in Naples, FL. Responsibilities Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with Company and Facility policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality and security with all privileged information. Maintain working knowledge of Company and facility software. Adhere to the Company and Customer facilities Code of Conduct and policies. Assist with additional work duties or responsibilities as evident or required. Demonstrate attention to detail for medical records and apply medical privacy regulations to guard against unauthorized disclosure. Manage patient health records and safeguard patient records in compliance with HIPAA standards. Prepare new patient charts, gather documents from paper sources and/or electronic health records. Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure accuracy and completeness. Create digital images of paperwork for storage in the electronic medical record. Respond to requests for patient records from internal and external sources, retrieving and transmitting as appropriate. Answer inbound/outbound calls and assist with patient walk-ins as needed. Provide support with administrative duties such as handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry. Participate in training of associates in HIS positions and generate reports as directed. Support regional training, mentoring and onboarding activities as needed. Assist with Quality Assurance tasks as directed by management. Lead training sessions and provide developmental support to staff. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. 1-year Health Information related experience; 2+ years preferred. Basic computer proficiency; comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment. Professional verbal and written communication skills in English. Detail- and quality-oriented with focus on accurate and compliant medical records. Ability to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks; able to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to commute between locations as needed and to work overtime during peak seasons when required. Comfortable building relationships with on-site clients and customers and contributing ideas for process improvements.
