Software Engineering Manager, GTI Team Lead

Corptax is the platform behind corporate tax for many of the largest enterprises in the world. Global Tax and Regulatory Intelligence (GTI) is the product that tracks tax and regulatory obligations across jurisdictions, models them as workflows, and tells our clients what is due, where, and when.

We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the GTI engineering team. This is a hands‑on leadership role. You will run the team, own delivery, and stay close to the code. Your architecture calls and your code reviews carry real weight.

You will report to the Head of AI and work alongside product, design, and tax content on everything GTI ships.

Some of the things you will be doing:

• The team. You will run one‑on‑ones, set growth plans, give direct feedback, handle performance, and hiring decisions.
• Delivery. You will work with product to turn the roadmap into releases the team can land, and you will be accountable for the dates you agree upon.
• Technical direction. You will make and document the architecture decisions across the frontend, the backend services, the database, and the Azure footprint.
• Code quality. You will review pull requests, set the bar for testing, and contribute code on the novel problems we encounter daily.
• The release process. GTI ships from a multi‑service repository with release tagging, release candidates, changelog gates, and merge‑back rules. You will own that process and keep it "boring" and stable.
• Production health. You will own on‑call, alert routing, and the observability stack. You will be the person who asks why an incident happened and makes sure it never happens again.
• Hands‑on work. You will definitely write code, enough of it to keep your judgment current, though it will not fill most of your week.

The Stack:

GTI has a small number of moving parts, and you should be comfortable in all of them.

• Frontend: Next.js and TypeScript, with a shared React component library.
• Backend: .NET and C# services behind the product APIs.
• Data: Microsoft SQL Server, including schema design, migrations, and query tuning.
• Hosting: Azure Container Apps, with Key Vault, Container Registry, managed identities, and private endpoints around it.
• Delivery: GitHub Actions for CI/CD, Bicep for infrastructure, and Linear for planning.
• Telemetry: Application Insights for tracing and PostHog for product analytics.

What technical skills, experience and qualifications do you need?

Required

• Experience building and shipping production software, including leading a team as a manager or a technical lead.
• Hands‑on depth in C# and .NET, including API design, async work, and testing.
• Hands‑on depth in modern TypeScript and React, with Next.js experience preferred.
• SQL Server skills: schema design, indexing, reading query plans, and running migrations against live data.
• Production experience with containerized workloads on Azure.
• A track record of shipping on a schedule in an Agile work environment.
• Clear written communication. You can write a design document, an incident review, and a performance review, and all three land.

Nice to Have

• Infrastructure as code with Bicep, and CI/CD with GitHub Actions.
• Experience with observability tooling such as Application Insights, OpenTelemetry, or PostHog.
• Experience leading a team through an agent‑led development workflow with tools such as Claude Code.
• Experience shipping LLM‑backed features into production.
• Background in tax, accounting, law, or another rule‑governed domain. We can teach the domain, and it is a head start if you already have it.
• Experience hiring and onboarding engineers.

We need someone who can hold that bar while still shipping on a schedule, and who can drive a team that holds it without being watched.
