Our client is a national, vertically integrated builder/developer of multifamily projects. Their typical project ranges from $100M to $200M. They have a strong presence here in the Mid-Atlantic with projects in DC, MD, & VA. They have a large-scale project coming up in the Fredericksburg area and are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their team.

Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager - Multifamily Construction - Fredericksburg will be responsible for:

• Supporting the Project Manager with day-to-day management of multifamily construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
• Assisting with project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control to ensure projects stay on track
• Coordinating with superintendents, subcontractors, architects, and vendors to maintain workflow and resolve issues
• Reviewing submittals, RFIs, and change orders for accuracy and completeness
• Tracking project documentation, drawings, and permits to ensure compliance with contract requirements
• Monitoring quality control and safety standards on-site in coordination with field teams
• Participating in owner, architect, and subcontractor meetings; preparing meeting minutes and follow-ups
• Assisting with procurement of materials and buyout of subcontractors
• Supporting project closeout activities, including punch lists, turnover documents, and final billing
• Maintaining clear communication with internal teams and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle

The Successful Applicant

The Assistant Project Manager - Multifamily Construction - Fredericksburg will have:

• 2+ years of experience supporting construction projects, preferably in multifamily or mixed-use construction
• A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Working knowledge of construction processes, drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Experience assisting with schedules, budgets, cost tracking, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
• Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar tools)
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with field teams, subcontractors, and owners
• High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
• Ability to work on-site in Fredericksburg, VA and collaborate closely with superintendents and project teams
