Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:


Provide quality and timely preventive maintenance and repair of the assigned facility to support the District's educational and maintenance programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification


High school diploma or GED


Special Knowledge/Skills:


Able to understand written and verbal instructions


Able to prepare written reports


Demonstrate ability to perform a wide variety of functions in general maintenance, mechanical, and electrical repairs


Possess a valid Texas Class C driver license


Possess working knowledge of building control systems: lighting, MDP's, riser rooms, fire alarm systems


Basic knowledge of computers and work order management system


Ability to carry-out work assigned by the Director of Maintenance or the Facilities Manager


Ability to lift and carry 61 or more pounds without assistance


Experience:


Five years of maintenance experience

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Change AC filters in assigned facility every 3-4 weeks.
• Make minor AC repairs as needed.
• Service mechanical systems: boilers, exhaust fans, AC low temp coil cleaning.
• Repair and/or replace electrical switches, plugs, and light ballasts as needed.

• Reset tripped breakers - campus will not have keys to mechanical rooms.
• Make minor plumbing repairs as needed: unstop plumbing fixtures, replace slush valves, and repair leaky faucets.
• Make minor repairs to kitchen equipment as needed.
• Make door and hardware repairs as needed.
• Maintain and clean fire alarm devices.
• Perform general maintenance repairs: install campus furnished bulletin/tack boards, banners, pictures, interior and exterior signage, floor/wall/ceiling repairs.
• Practice high standards of safety in performance of all duties.
• Performed other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; small hand tools; ladder; mechanical and electrical testing equipment; small truck or van.


Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.


Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving.


Lifting: Frequent moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds).


Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust; exposure to electrical hazards; work alone; may work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district wide travel.


Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress.
