Maintenance Specialist I

Position Overview Maintenance Specialist I – Department of Administrative Services, State Building Division – Lincoln, NE. Hiring Rate: $21.836. Job Posting: JR2026-00026377. Responsibilities Perform skilled construction, installation, alteration, fabrication, maintenance and repair work in one or more building trades and/or equipment maintenance activities. Work individually or as part of a crew, exercising independent planning and organization of own work. Complete daily maintenance work orders, preventative work orders, groundskeeping and other duties within the classification scope. Requirements / Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or other building trade. Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations, or training may be substituted for education on a year‑for‑year basis as determined appropriate by the agency. Preferred Qualifications Certification or diploma in one or more applicable maintenance trade(s). License(s) in one or more applicable maintenance fields. Special license for EPA applications or refrigerant. Work Hours Monday‑Friday 7:00am‑3:30pm, including rotating on‑call work. Other Requirements Must possess a valid driver’s license or other reliable transportation. Regular and reliable attendance required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and building maintenance equipment. Basic office and computer skills, including competency in email and building system applications. Able to operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment. Familiarity with basic groundskeeping equipment.
