Lead Valet Attendant ($23 hr + tips) - Ritz Carlton, San Francisco

SUMMARY The Guest Service Captain orchestrates the service experience for hotel guests while working alongside coworkers to ensure that the site’s service standards are met or exceeded. Working under the direction of the Account Manager, the Captain handles coordination, administration, troubleshooting, and critical issue resolution when the manager is not on-site. RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain a pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor with all guests, client staff members and coworkers; greet guests within 30 seconds of arrival to create favorable first and last impressions (20%). Open all vehicle and hotel doors for guests, check in arriving guests, explain parking and retrieval procedures, and park and retrieve vehicles while driving slowly and cautiously, handling complaints effectively (20%). Use proper phone etiquette; conduct an effective room presentation when providing bell services, assist with delivery and pick up of items to guest rooms, assist with directions, taxis, reservations and other inquiries, and maintain detailed knowledge of the client’s facility and local attractions (10%). Promote a teamwork philosophy by leading by example and effective communication, assign routine roles to colleagues, and adjust staffing during the shift as directed by the Account Manager (15%). Issue claim checks to guests only after receiving vehicle keys, collect vehicle claim checks before issuing keys, complete ticket information, secure all keys, and complete required forms (15%). Ensure staff do not provide lift services to any hotel or hospital guest, check wheelchairs for safe operation before each use, clean wheelchairs after use, protect guest confidentiality per HIPAA requirements, and maintain security of financial and identifying information (10%). Assist the Account Manager in building work schedules and notify associates of schedule changes or openings; identify and collect revenue for all vehicles, complete accurate cash drop slips and envelopes, prepare shift reports, reconcile revenue and tickets each shift (10%). QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or GED. Licensure & Certification: Must be at least 18 years old, pass criminal background, MVR and drug screen, and complete Wheelchair Safety Training. Work Experience: Six (6) months related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge: Valid driver’s license with clean driving record, knowledge of 24‑hour and military time, understanding of rates for time passed. Skills: Ability to drive a manual transmission, speak/read/write Standard English, read and comprehend simple instructions, write simple correspondence, present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings, apply reasoning and understanding to carry out instructions, and perform basic math operations including handling American money. Other Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, run, walk, climb stairs, lift up to 100 lbs occasionally, and work outdoors under varying weather conditions. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Hourly base pay range of $23 per hour plus tips. Work schedule is 3 pm-11 pm.
