Mechanical Technician IIILocation: Newton, NC – 100% Onsite Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Occasional overtime required)Position Summary: The Mechanical Technician III will support Engineering Projects focused on installing, debugging, and commissioning new manufacturing equipment for capacity expansion. This is a hands-on mechanical role involving equipment installation, troubleshooting, process improvements, and collaboration with engineering, operations, vendors, and suppliers to ensure successful production line startups.Key Responsibilities:Support installation, startup, and debugging of new manufacturing equipment.Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of:HydraulicsPneumaticsPumpsMotorsConveyorsBearingsGear systemsAlign, test, and calibrate newly installed equipment.Analyze mechanical failures and determine root causes.Design and implement mechanical improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.Manage installation activities to meet project milestones and timelines.Develop engineering and operational documentation.Support spare parts identification and inventory management.Train operations personnel on new equipment and process changes.Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.Ensure compliance with plant safety standards and OSHA regulations.Required Qualifications:Associate's degree requiredExperience: 3+ years of mechanical experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience installing and commissioning new production equipmentExperience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentStartup/commissioning experience is preferredRequired Technical Skills:Strong mechanical troubleshooting skillsHydraulics and pneumaticsBearings, conveyors, motors, and gear systemsMechanical installations and equipment commissioningBlueprint and schematic readingRoot cause analysisPreventive and corrective maintenanceMicrosoft OfficeBasic CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experienceKnowledge of industrial safety practicesPreferred Skills:Commercial manufacturing equipment experienceCAD experienceProject leadership or project coordinationVendor and supplier managementEquipment installation and line startupFinancial or milestone tracking on projectsCertifications (Preferred):MillwrightHVACWeldingOSHA CertificationSoft Skills:Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skillsStrong communication skillsTeam playerAbility to multitask and prioritizeWorks independently with minimal supervisionAdaptable in a fast-paced project environmentDetail-orientedTravel: Local travel between Newton, NC and Hickory, NC project locations.Work Schedule:Monday–Friday8:00 AM – 5:00 PM40 hours/weekOvertime and occasional off-hours work required during project installations and equipment startups.Nice to Have:CADCMMSVendor managementOSHA CertificationMillwright/HVAC/Welding certificationProject leadership experience.
