Our client in Amherst, Massachusetts is seeking a skilled Contract Accountant to support their accounting and finance operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who can step in quickly, manage day-to-day financial activities, and help ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
• Review journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
• Help ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
• Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or trends
• Support audits and assist with ad hoc accounting projects as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles
• Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting software
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills:

• Experience supporting month-end close
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
