This role complements the Laborer/Operator responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform all duties and responsibilities with Sunland's Core Values at the forefront. Directly supervise field personnel and direct them in all aspects of production. Act as a safety ambassador, promoting and enforcing a culture of safety that complies with all federal, state, contract and company regulations. Ensure the safety of the crew and that all employees and subcontractors adhere to company safety policies and guidelines, including promoting job‑site safety, encouraging safe work practices, proactively identifying hazards and rectifying them immediately in conjunction with the Superintendent. Conduct daily safety and job site meetings with field personnel and subcontractors. Coordinate production activities and schedule with the Production Manager, Superintendent, Project Consultant and other team members. Oversee execution of work to ensure that field personnel are scheduled and complete jobs within contract/job confines. Periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production. Review and inspect completed work and meet with Superintendent, Production Manager, and/or Project Consultant to rectify any concerns. Maintain daily logs and input job costs, material costs and labor, updating company systems daily. Serve as key company representative in the field, communicating with customers, subcontractors, vendors and the general public; manage expectations and provide a high level of customer service. Perform any other duties assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervise and train crews of 2–5 employees. This position will not be directly involved in appraising performance, hiring or disciplinary actions. Ethical Conduct. Safety This is a safety‑sensitive position subject to the company's drug and alcohol policy and all OSHA regulations. All employees must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Serve as a safety ambassador by complying with federal, state and local laws, enforcing safe work practices and proactively identifying and remedying worksite hazards. Physical Demands and Work Environment Operate at professional construction sites, requiring communication in person and over the telephone, reading printed materials, traces and directions. Carry, push, pull, lift, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead and navigate safety requirements. Work on project sites and operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, equipment and other tools within local, state and federal safety guidelines. Work outside for long periods in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures. Possibly be exposed to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, viruses, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris. Position Type / Expected Hours Full‑time position. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel Must be willing to travel to any and all job sites without exception—including staying away from home if necessary. Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Minimum of two (2) years related experience in heavy construction is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to use computers and complete administrative tasks. Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience. Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing). Certifications, Licenses and Registrations A current driver's license; a CDL license is preferred and may be required for some departments/divisions. Clean motor‑vehicle record.
