Senior Cost Engineer

We're partnering with a Global CPG Company to hire a Sourcing & Costing Lead who is essentially a Manufacturing Cost Engineer disguised as a sourcing executive. If you are a candidate whose experience is purely in logistics, 3PL, and global procurement—or if your product costing background is in food, beverage, or cosmetics—this is not the role for you. We are looking for hands‑on, hardlines/consumer goods manufacturing costing expertise. The "Must-Haves" (The Non-Negotiables) BS in Engineering is REQUIRED: You cannot have just a general business or supply chain degree. We need someone who understands the physical physics and manufacturing constraints of making products. 80% Costing, 20% Sourcing: Your primary expertise must lie in structural product costing, manufacturing engineering, and detailed cost breakdowns—not just managing purchase orders or third‑party logistics. Asia Factory Experience: Because most of our manufacturing suppliers and vendors are based in Asia, direct, hands‑on experience managing cost and production in this region is critical. The 10/5 Rule: You must have 10+ years of costing and procurement experience in the consumer products industry, with at least 5 years of supervisory/management experience. What You’ll Actually Be Doing Mastering "Should‑Cost" Models: You will provide overall direction for total system cost modeling, developing detailed "should cost" estimates rather than relying on what the supplier quotes you. Factory‑Floor Problem Solving: You’ll partner directly with factories to identify and implement cost control and improvement projects annually. Building a Cost Library: You’ll manage the maintenance of our material cost library and track core commodity costs. Global Supplier Negotiations: You will represent the company in high‑stakes negotiations with global suppliers, covering price, capacity, and terms. International Travel: Prepare for 20%+ international travel to visit our manufacturing facilities and partners overseas. What We Do NOT Want (The Fast "No") No pure procurement/sourcing backgrounds: If your main experience is negotiating contracts without understanding how the product is physically engineered and manufactured, please do not apply. No logistics/freight‑only backgrounds: If your cost engineering experience is focused on supply planning, warehousing, freight, or 3PL, you will not be considered. No Food/Beverage/Cosmetics background: We need hard consumer goods/durables experience. Costing out a beverage or a lotion is structurally different from costing out engineered physical consumer products.
