Medical Technologist

Job Summary The Medical Technologist Lead at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for assisting the supervisor with scheduling, quality control, maintenance programs, and workflow organization. This role also includes ensuring the accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment, and specimens while adhering to all relevant laws and regulations. Supervision & Job Functions Coordinate workflow of phlebotomists in the Specimen Processing area. Serve as Charge Medical Technologist (MT) in the absence of the supervisor or Lead MT. Ensure accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment, and specimens, following all laws and regulations. Follow regulatory guidelines in handling/processing laboratory specimens. Follow proper policy for patient identification and labeling of all specimens. Effectively communicate with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members, and customers. Use AIDET in applicable situations. Attend CARES training. When necessary, ensure proper service recovery for patients and/or caregivers. Answer the telephone in a polite and efficient manner. Work as part of a team with all Pathology and NMHS employees. Assure department testing is reported accurately and timely. Assist with meeting goals of department Performance Improvement initiatives. Document all required instrument monthly maintenance and quality control. Assist with training of students and new employees. Participate in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills. Stay abreast of regulatory changes. Adhere to NMHS/NMMC policies, procedures, and guidelines. Comply with all relevant local, state, federal policies, procedures, guidelines, regulations, laws, and statutes. Adhere to College of American Pathologists (CAP) and Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards. Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Science or related field.
