Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Observation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) Experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - Patient care - Nursing process - Nursing documentation - Patient assessment - Plan of care development Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The nurse provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Essential functions include performing all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The nurse implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care is essential to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. An initial assessment upon patient admission must be completed, and an appropriate plan of care should be developed in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The nurse implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifications to the plan of care are based upon continuous evaluation. Taking responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents is crucial. Communication with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues is expected. The nurse offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge. Identifying personal learning needs and initiating appropriate solutions is required. All departmental competencies must be fulfilled. Department specific job functions include: - Assessing IV sites every 4 hours - Starting new IVs per policy - Maintaining documentation standards as evidenced by passed quarterly chart audits - Attending staff meetings regularly - Identifying changes in patient status and responding appropriately
