Building Maintenance Mechanic / Facilities Maintenance Technician

This role is responsible for maintaining the building systems, utilities, and infrastructure of a manufacturing facility to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility assets, respond to building-related service requests, and support uninterrupted building operations in a MondayFriday, daytime schedule with flexibility and some overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and maintain facility building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, roofing, doors, docks, and general building infrastructure.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility support equipment such as pumps, valves, compressors, fans, air handling units, exhaust systems, and other mechanical building systems.
• Clean, lubricate, adjust, and service a variety of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic building equipment to ensure reliable operation.
• Assist with the installation, modification, and repair of facility infrastructure and building systems to support changing operational needs.
• Perform repairs to building finishes including walls, ceilings, flooring, doors, windows, hardware, painting, and other general building maintenance tasks.
• Maintain utility systems that support facility operations, including compressed air, chilled water, domestic water, wastewater, and other assigned building utility systems.
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and facility systems regularly to identify unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, and preventive maintenance needs.
• Respond promptly to facility-related service requests and emergency maintenance situations to minimize disruptions to plant operations.
• Troubleshoot facility system issues and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, increase energy efficiency, and reduce maintenance costs.
• Maintain and operate fire protection and life safety systems including fire alarm systems, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, and related equipment.
• Perform general carpentry, minor masonry repairs, snow removal, landscaping support, and other grounds maintenance activities as needed.
• Complete work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, inspections, and required documentation using the company's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Use maintenance technology including computers, tablets, mobile devices, building automation systems, and CMMS software to manage and document work.
• Comply with all OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, applicable building codes, and company safety policies at all times.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices when servicing facility equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in all assigned areas.
• Complete all required safety and technical training and apply the knowledge in daily work.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with the company's uniform and appearance standards.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and support plant operations by providing responsive, customer-focused maintenance service.

Essential Skills

• Two (2) or more years of experience in commercial, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, or institutional facilities maintenance.
• Hands-on experience maintaining building systems and facility infrastructure in an industrial or commercial environment.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, roofing, doors, docks, and building infrastructure.
• Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, valves, compressors, fans, air handling units, exhaust systems, and other mechanical building systems.
• Proficiency in general building maintenance, including carpentry, painting, minor masonry repairs, and building finishes.
• Ability to maintain and support utility systems such as compressed air, chilled water, domestic water, and wastewater systems.
• Experience working with fire protection and life safety systems, including fire alarms, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, and emergency lighting.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, applicable building codes, and safe work practices.
• Ability to follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety protocols.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a sense of urgency and initiative.
• Effective time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
• Customer service mindset with clear and professional communication skills.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Buffalo Grove, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $71000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Elgible for Cushman & Wakefield benefits on day 1 of the job!
