Principal Office Assistant I

The purpose of this position is to perform complex office duties under general direction of a head clerk or an administrative employee. Work requires initiative and independent judgment in the application of prescribed policies, procedures, and methods. Performs all other related work as required.

Essential functions include providing customer service, performing general clerical duties, maintaining department data, preparing administrative documents, and managing internal control systems for materials and office supplies.

The role involves working under general supervision, following department rules, regulations, and policies, and may include supervising up to three other clerical staff or students. The work environment is typically an office setting with frequent interruptions and contact with various stakeholders.

Recommended minimum qualifications include a high school education and two to three years of clerical experience, along with knowledge of office procedures, effective communication skills, and the ability to operate standard office equipment.

Physical requirements include sitting, communicating, walking, handling objects, reaching, lifting up to 15 pounds, and having normal vision and hearing.
