Walton Beach, Florida office! Our office is responsible for the prosecution of all crimes committed in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties. We are seeking Assistant State Attorneys that have good judgment and a passion to keep our community safe. We hire Florida Bar members in good standing who have demonstrated an interest in litigation and/or criminal law through coursework and internships. We also recruit attorneys with prosecutorial experience for lateral hires. Our prosecutors manage a large caseload, are in court frequently, and prosecute numerous trials. Training and mentoring are provided by senior attorneys. This is truly a unique opportunity to learn to become a first-class trial attorney. Responsibilities Prepare criminal cases for prosecution requiring legal research, depositions, and interviewing witnesses, victims, and other parties to ascertain facts. Perform trial work including preparation and summation of detailed case work for presentation of cases in jury and non-jury trials, and the examining and cross‑examining of witnesses, defendants, and victims. Engage in professional interaction with the public, law enforcement staff, and office staff. Qualifications Florida Bar member in good standing. Strong interest in courtroom litigation, with excellent communication and critical thinking skills. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Must pass a background check including fingerprinting and have proof of identity and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the United States. Benefits The minimum entry level annual salary for attorneys is $75,000.00, commensurate with experience, which coupled with our generous benefits package is comparable to $104,141.46 annually.
