Quality Engineer - Machining Manufacturer | Geneva, IL

Join a leading business services company as a Quality Engineer in Geneva, IL, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring product quality and process improvement within the machining manufacturing sector. This position offers an opportunity to work on innovative projects and contribute to a high-performing engineering and manufacturing team. Our client is a machining and metal processing manufacturer specializing in casting and CNC machining, serving the aerospace, semiconductor, and food service industries. They are located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and have about 140 employees total. They are ISO $9001:2015 certified and are experiencing steady growth as they add to their team. Description Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans for CNC‑machined thermal products (including on-site foundry, machining and electrical assembly) Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure accurate quality planning Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and customer quality issues Support first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections Work closely with CNC machinists, programmers, and supervisors to resolve quality concerns and improve processes Analyze quality data and trends (scrap, rework, nonconformances) and recommend process improvements Manage nonconforming material reports (NCMRs) and coordinate disposition activities, both internal rejects and external customer returns (RMA) Assist with customer, internal, and third‑party audits (e.g., ISO 9001) Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of inspection and measurement equipment Support supplier quality activities, including supplier evaluations and corrective actions Support customer‑specific quality initiatives and work closely with customer supplier engineers (calls, meetings, emails, projects) Implement and maintain statistical methodologies for process improvement (SPC, etc.) Train production and inspection personnel on quality standards and best practices Daily collaboration with other internal departments, including sales, customer service, engineering, purchasing, and production Lead / direct the shop‑floor quality team (Quality Techs and Inspectors), including training, setting priorities, addressing technical challenges, etc. Perform other tasks and special projects as needed. Profile Engineering degree preferred (ME or EE), or equivalent technical experience Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T Experience using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and other inspection equipment Working knowledge of quality tools such as PPAP, FMEA, SPC, root cause analysis, and 8D Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other applicable quality management systems Proficiency with statistical software, such as Minitab or JMP ASQ quality‑related certifications preferred (CQE, CQA, or equivalent) Lean / Six Sigma certifications preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality documentation systems Sponsorship not provided Job Offer Base salary of $80k-$110k depending on years of experience United Healthcare benefits 401(k) matching – 50% up to 5% Paid Time Off MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
