Underwriter / Account Executive, Technology

Position Overview Technology & Life Sciences Account Executive (AE) – responsible for underwriting, negotiating, and maintaining a book of business, building relationships with agents and brokers, and driving growth and profitability within Travelers’ risk appetite. The role focuses on new and renewal business for technology, life sciences, and related sectors. Key Responsibilities Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business. Underwrite and negotiate customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability. Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross‑selling opportunities. Foster relationships with external partners by regularly meeting with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products, aiming to write and retain accounts consistent with the risk appetite. Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills. Develop and execute agency sales plans and region/group sales plans. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Three to five years of underwriting experience in commercial lines. Knowledge of commercial lines products, regulatory environment, and local insurance market. Strong critical‑thinking skills to proactively identify underwriting or marketing challenges and analyze information for timely decisions aligned with risk appetite. Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate with agents and brokers. CPCU designation. Preferred Experience At least two years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance functions.
