Special Education Teacher in Des Plaines, IL

Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting middle school students in a contract role scheduled to begin in August 2026 and conclude in May 2027. Spend your days providing services across two neighboring middle schools located just minutes apart. With resource class sizes capped at approximately 8-10 students, you'll focus on offering targeted instruction and co-teaching in an inclusive setting for 8th graders.


This position suits professionals ready to work independently, who have a strong background in implementing resource supports, differentiated instruction, and collaborating with general education staff. Staff contract time is set Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:20 am-2:50 pm, and Wednesdays from 7:20 am-3:05 pm, allowing for a 35-hour workweek and a daily 30-minute lunch break. New hires may participate in a thorough teacher orientation in early August, ensuring a smooth transition into the district.


Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBSI endorsement (or eligibility)
• Substantial experience delivering specialized instruction in resource and/or co-taught classes at the middle school level
• Strong skills in individualized education plan (IEP) development, progress monitoring, and data-informed decision making
• Ability to foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment for diverse learners
• Professionalism, initiative, and adaptability in collaborative school settings
