Assistant Controller

We are partnering with a well-established, growing organization in the Atlanta area that is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its corporate accounting team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a CPA or experienced accounting professional looking to take the next step into a leadership role with exposure to executive management and the opportunity to influence financial operations. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing the month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, and team development while partnering closely with the Controller and CFO on strategic initiatives. Responsibilities Assist in leading the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. Oversee general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and account analysis. Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies. Assist with annual audits and coordinate with external auditors. Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures. Supervise, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team. Review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives. Partner with operational leaders to improve financial processes and reporting. Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards. Participate in system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives. Support special projects as assigned by the Controller and CFO. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA designation strongly preferred. 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience. Public accounting experience (Big 4 or regional firm) highly preferred. Prior experience in a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Assistant Controller role. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting. Experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar). Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience Combination of public accounting and industry experience. Experience with multi-entity or multi-location organizations. Exposure to acquisitions, consolidations, or process improvement initiatives.
