Title: Adjunct Business, Principles of Management Instructor Agency: Southside Va Community College Location: Brunswick - 025 FLSA: Exempt Hiring Range: Per credit hour rate is determined based on experience and education Full Time or Part Time: Part Time Job Description Adjunct instructor to lead BUS 200: Principles of Management, a hybrid course covering fundamental management functions: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The role involves preparing teaching materials, delivering instruction, maintaining student engagement via Canvas LMS, monitoring attendance, and supporting student success. Course Content & Specific Duties Teach the fundamental management functions: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Focus on application of management principles to realistic situations managers encounter in pursuit of organizational objectives. Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high-quality course materials align with college standards. Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for the online portion of the course. Participate in professional activities and support student success through active engagement. Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Management or a related business field from a regionally accredited institution. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams. Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments. Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds. Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success. Additional Considerations Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face-to-face and online/hybrid modalities. Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Experience working with community college students.
