CT Technologist - Radiology

Overview The CT Technologist performs computerized axial tomography procedures utilizing various imaging equipment and contrast material. Prepares and administers contrast material based on Carle policies and procedures. Qualifications Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) within 1 year (ARRT) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days (AHA) Registered in Radiography (R) (ARRT) Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) (NMTCB) Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiography (IEMA) Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology Relevant work experience in CT preferred Responsibilities Performs computerized axial tomography procedures and assigned invasive procedures by acquiring and processing patient exams as outlined in department protocols, including performing multi-planar reformats and/or 3D rendered images independently. Reviews case with the radiologist when appropriate. Administers IV contrast syringes and oral/rectal contrasts, and recognizes and responds to adverse reactions or allergic reactions. Administers contrast by existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line. Reviews radiology orders for completeness and accuracy, examines patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity, and obtains additional information as needed. Demonstrates acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and alignment. Transfers and verifies image data in PACS and provides necessary medical history for radiologist interpretation. Utilizes web server/EA viewer and email system to send exams for preliminary readings after hours. Maintains imaging equipment and workplace environment, including supply inventories and orderly work area. Recognizes malfunctions and service needs and reports them in a timely manner. Encounters and screens patients for pregnancy, performing pregnancy testing if applicable, and ensures safety of patients, visitors, and environment, reporting safety events immediately. Assists in instruction of students and new staff as necessary, and may serve as CT Lead or Imaging Coordinator in absence. Meets productivity levels established by department benchmarking, assists other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity. May perform duties of other modalities within the department as required by licensure and compliance. Provides instruction to students and new staff, and may act as CT Lead when necessary. Manages responsibilities within cross-trained modalities, complying with job descriptions of other modalities performed in the department. Secondary registries are not required for cross-trained modalities at HRHC unless specifically required by compliance, licensure, or accrediting bodies. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $32.1 per hour to $55.21 per hour, representing a good faith minimum and maximum range at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will depend on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
