Specialist, Customs Compliance

Summary The Specialist, Customs Compliance will manage U.S. import/export and customs regulatory compliance across Chanel’s fashion, watches, fine jewelry, fragrance, and beauty divisions from the Piscataway, NJ office. This hybrid role requires a minimum of three days in-person per week and partners with legal, supply chain, merchandising, and global teams to ensure timely entry into the U.S. market. The role combines classification, regulatory monitoring, broker coordination, and reporting to support business-critical imports. Responsibilities Perform USHTS classification for fashion, watches, fine jewelry, fragrance, beauty, and non-sellable materials. Review product compositions for regulatory flags (e.g., FWS, APHIS, FDA) and ensure compliance with TSCA and the Lacey Act. Manage import/export processing, including coordination for press and VIP movements, broker inquiries, and weekly customs broker meetings. Maintain import data requirements, elevate missing data, manage priority imports, and ensure import KPIs are met. Pull ACE reports and support reporting and analysis across systems (SAP, OrliWeb, MMS, My Tower) and use PowerBI for data insights. Requirements Minimum 3 years of experience in customs compliance or related import/export role. Licensed customs broker preferred; experience importing and exporting consumer goods, with strong preference for fashion and beauty products. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, finance, law, or regulatory affairs. Proficiency with SAP, OrliWeb, MMS, My Tower, PowerBI, and Microsoft systems.
