Accountant (Staff)As an Accountant (Staff), you will be responsible for the following duties (If selected at the GS-07, GS-09 or GS-11 level, duties will be performed in a developmental capacity):Provide technical accounting guidance and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.Monitor and analyze financial transactions, identify root-cause issues, and prepare reports compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Defense Finance and Accounting Service guidance, Office of the Secretary of Defense Comptroller policy, and Defense Commissary Agency directives.Research accounting issues and support cross-functional teams to improve business processes.Review and evaluate accounting processes and systems, recommend improvements, maintain system access, and ensure compliance with United States Standard General Ledger and Standard Financial Information System standards.Support development, testing, and training for accounting systems, analyze results, identify gaps, and assist with training materials.Read the entire announcement before starting the application process.
