The Role We are looking for our first Recruiting Lead who will build and own GovSignals' talent acquisition function from the ground up. This person will partner directly with the CEO and leadership team to attract, evaluate, and close exceptional talent across every function as we scale rapidly through our next phase of growth. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of hiring high-caliber people at startups, thrives in ambiguity, and understands that recruiting is both an art and a science. You will design our hiring processes, develop sourcing strategies, and personally close candidates who will shape the trajectory of the company. This is a player-builder role—you will recruit directly while simultaneously building the systems and eventually the team to scale our hiring capacity. Key Responsibilities Own Full-Cycle Recruiting Across All Functions Source, screen, and close candidates across engineering (product and platform), sales, GTM, client success, compliance, and operations Manage multiple concurrent searches while maintaining quality and candidate experience Build deep talent pipelines for critical roles before they become urgent Design and Implement Hiring Infrastructure Develop structured interview processes, scorecards, and evaluation criteria for each role type Build repeatable hiring playbooks that maintain bar while increasing velocity Implement and optimize Ashby ATS workflows and recruiting metrics dashboards Partner with Leadership on Talent Strategy Work with hiring managers to define role requirements, ideal candidate profiles, and compensation bands Advise on org design and hiring sequencing to support company goals Provide market intelligence on talent availability, compensation benchmarks, and competitive dynamics Drive Recruiting Excellence Own recruiting metrics including time-to-fill, pipeline conversion rates, and offer acceptance rates Continuously improve sourcing channels and candidate experience Build GovSignals' employer brand through compelling job descriptions, outreach, and candidate touch-points Scale the Function Establish the foundation to grow recruiting capacity as hiring needs increase Document processes and build the operational infrastructure for a future recruiting team Qualifications 5+ years of recruiting experience with at least 2 years in a startup or high-growth environment where you built or significantly scaled hiring Demonstrated track record of personally closing exceptional talent—people who meaningfully elevated the teams they joined Experience hiring across multiple functions including technical roles (engineers) and go-to-market roles (sales, customer success, marketing) Ability to move fast without sacrificing quality—comfortable managing 10+ active searches simultaneously Strong sourcing skills with creativity in finding passive candidates beyond standard channels Excellent judgment in evaluating talent and calibrating hiring bars Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to build process while executing Outstanding communication skills—you can represent GovSignals compellingly to candidates and provide clear, actionable feedback to hiring managers High ownership mentality—you treat open roles like your own problem to solve, not tickets to process Experience with ATS platforms and recruiting analytics Why Join GovSignals Build the talent engine for a fast-moving AI company serving critical public-sector missions Join a mission-driven team that is redefining government contracting while advancing American innovation and security Shape company culture by bringing in the people who will define who we become Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 Bonus: $10,000 for each new hire brought in after 90 day retention Benefits: medical, vision, and dental Unlimited PTO If you are energized by finding exceptional people, want to shape the future of government contracting, and thrive on building something from scratch, this role is for you.
