Key Responsibilities

• Assist the First Cook in food preparation.

• Prepare stations appropriately and on time for each service period.

• Ensure food is sent to the correct table on time.

• Cook food and prepare menu items of the highest quality in a timely manner according to recipes/menu.

• Verify that production schedules are followed and strictly adhered to.

• Clean preparation areas, such as equipment, work surfaces, and service areas, to ensure safe and sanitary food handling practices.

• Ensure the freshness of food and ingredients by checking their quality, controlling old and new products, and rotating inventory.

• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.

• Calculate expected food consumption, requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage.

• Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, considering factors such as costs and special event needs.

• Maintain records and accounts.

• Understand the impact of kitchen operations on the overall financial goals and objectives of the property.

• Follow all company safety and security policies; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to the supervisor.

• Complete safety training and certifications.

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the team to achieve common goals, listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.

• Ensure that uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

• Perform other reasonable tasks assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Hospitality oriented

• 3+ years of experience in the kitchen, food, and beverage area, or in a related professional area.

• Previous experience as a cook in a similar environment

• Ability to handle difficult situations effectively
• Capable of working quickly and efficiently, especially under pressure
• Must be able to bend, squat, stretch, stand for 2-3 consecutive hours, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must perform well under pressure, even with minimal supervision
• Technical knowledge in cooking

• Bilingual (Spanish and English)
