What You'll Do

• Provide high-quality nursing care for patients in the Med-Surg and Telemetry units, including transplant and general medical patients.
• Manage patient conditions such as CHF, COPD, altered mental status, DKA, and more.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, including reading cardiac strips (ACLS required).
• Administer medications and support chest tube, dialysis, and wound care as directed.
• Assist with IV placements, blood draws, and support on various units within scope of practice.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT, PT, OT, and hospitalist consultants.
• Adhere to patient safety and documentation protocols using EMR system (Meditech Expanse).

What You Need

• Valid RN license in Louisiana or the ability to transfer licensure.
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience, 2 years if first-time traveler.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam.
• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills and ability to support complex patient needs.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

About the Assignment

This Med/Surg RN role at a reputable hospital in Shreveport involves caring for transplant, telemetry, and general medicine patients. The unit features a patient ratio of 1:5 for RNs, with support from charge nurses, resource nurses, and a dedicated RT team. You will work a 12-hour day shift, every other weekend, and participate in holiday coverage. Orientation includes one week at the Innovation Center and one day on the unit.
