Job Description:

- Deliver compassionate care while preparing and assisting with pre-operative patients.
- Prepare patient skin for surgery in alignment with top-tier hospital standards.
- Maintain aseptic techniques, actively safeguarding the surgical environment.
- Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients, emphasizing sensitivity and privacy.
- Transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite with care.
- Skillfully position patients according to the specific type of surgery.
- Identify and handle biological specimens with precision.
- Set up the Operating Room by arranging tables, instruments, and supplies tailored to each case.

Responsibilities:


- Meet the expectations of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Collaborate closely with professional nurses to deliver direct patient care in the OR.
- Proficiently scrub in at least 3 specialty areas - from Transplants to Robotics.
- Establish and maintain a sterile field, passing instruments and sutures to the physician.
- Use physician preference cards as a guide when setting up surgical cases.
- Keep preference cards accurate and comprehensive.
- Work effectively in a team dedicated to patient care.
- Ensure a safe environment by consistently applying aseptic practices.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise with surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for both patient and personal safety.
- Manage and monitor the surgical environment, ensuring compliance with dress codes and sanitation protocols.
- Familiarize yourself with facility policies regarding decontamination and sterilization processes.
- Adapt care methods to meet the unique needs of each patient served.
- Carry out other duties as assigned to support surgical operations.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills:


- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program required.

Experience:


- 2 or more years of experience preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:


- BLS certification required.
- Certified Surgical Technologist or LVN/LPN License required within 180 days of graduation.
