Staff Accountant

Primary Responsibility Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for processing daily GL transactions, GL and cash account reconciliations, and ensuring residential mortgage closing/funding transactions are completed timely and reflected accurately in the general ledger. SALARY RANGE: $30.76 - $37.50 / hour Primary Responsibility Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for processing daily GL transactions, GL and cash account reconciliations, and ensuring residential mortgage closing/funding transactions are completed timely and reflected accurately in the general ledger. Essential Functions Reconcile the banks suspense and work in process accounts on a daily basis, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items. Independently investigate and resolve account differences. Perform daily reconciliations of correspondent bank accounts, including the Fed and ATM. Process residential loan closings; perform daily reconciliation of the first mortgage payable account, loans held for sale accounts, and others. Process residential loan sale purchase advices and corresponding entries; process escrow holdback checks, 1^st mortgage and MIP payments and oversee appraisal portal transactions. Prepare and process daily journal entries and other bank transactions from various departments. Balance IIS and CDARS account transactions on both a daily and monthly basis. Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations, as assigned. Maintain and reconcile custodial accounts for loans sold with servicing retained (e.g. MPF, Colson, FNMA and others) on a daily and monthly basis. Assist accounting management with projects on an as‑needed basis. Assist accounting management in the preparation of various schedules and reports as needed for external audit, regulatory exams and any relevant internal audits. Assistant accounting management with financial reporting, as assigned. As assigned, participate in personal and professional development activities related to relevant industry, GRB-specific, accounting/finance/treasury, and technology system topics. Active participation in the behaviors outlined in The GRB Experience. Other duties as assigned Education And Experience Bachelor’s degree required in accounting/finance or related field and a minimum of 2 years’ of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Competency with Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook. Financial accounting and analytical skills are required Private or public accounting experience strongly preferred Competencies Provide a remarkable client experience.
