About The Team The Reliability Platform is a key pillar of DoorDash’s Production Lifecycle team, alongside Observability and Deploy Platform. The team’s mandate is to enable users and agents to reason about the health of services, facilitate safe change control, and rapidly address unexpected states. Ownership is fundamental in DoorDash culture. We provide tools that enable success and ensure a high level of quality for everything we do. We approach challenges with a pragmatic SRE perspective and deliver solutions with a developer mindset to reduce toil. We use software and agents to “keep the lights on” and focus on innovation that levels up the organization. This mission falls into three main categories: Service Health – Providing SLO frameworks, analytics tools, and AI Agent enablement to extract high quality insights from telemetry to pinpoint faults or highlight deficiencies. Change Orchestration – Providing self‑service provisioning orchestration, evolving from UI to Agent‑driven to allow developers to safely affect production from their IDE. Incident Management – Defining and delivering tools, processes, and policies that help peers quickly understand and recover from unexpected issues. The mandate implies a broad contribution across many aspects of the infrastructure, demanding equal parts software development and systems integration. Our priorities are always informed by an obsession to level up over 4,000 internal customers and abstract infrastructure complexity so they can focus on delivering the DoorDash product. About The Role As a Software Engineer on the Reliability Platform team, you’ll help design, build, and operate services and infrastructure that deliver on the team’s broad mandate. The role offers breadth and often involves collaboration with experts across Infrastructure and Product teams. Depending on need, you may work on mission‑critical back‑end services, pipelines, orchestration workflows, self‑service UI, or AI Agent improvements. We fully embrace AI tools and believe in their potential while remaining pragmatic to ensure our critical infrastructure remains secure. Our goal is to deliver innovative next‑generation capabilities and make data available to others. Key recent initiatives include: Delivering a framework to capture, alert, and report on SLO quality across tens of thousands of endpoints, ensuring accountability. Replacing escalation management tools, aligning with an internal Asset/Team Catalog for automated alert routing and cross‑brand alignment. Delivering the MCP back‑end for Reliability Platform data/tools and enabling the same for peer teams. Designing orchestration tools for self‑service provisioning of critical infrastructure (Kafka topics, databases, CPU/GPU pools, service scaffolding). Proving an internal SRE AI Agentic tooling PoC leveraging internal MCPs and domain‑specific profiles to facilitate troubleshooting and Q&A, replacing FAQs/Runbooks. Deploying per‑pod real‑time configuration key‑value tooling for runtime feature flag management from a central source of truth across the fleet (100K+ pods). Lead responsibilities: Recruit, hire, and retain world‑class engineering talent; continually level up capabilities and outcomes. Manage team performance, including ongoing and annual assessments, regular 1:1 alignment, coaching, and feedback. Establish rituals and expectations for project execution that maximize productivity while minimizing overhead. Align with European counterparts to forge a shared global culture and mission. Own global processes and policies for incident response, communications, and reporting. Manage the team’s cloud provider and vendor spend, including forecasting. Proven experience in infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering. Platform mindset: design systems for others to depend on. Strong influence skills: comfortable with presentations, demos, and policy influence. Consistency: establishing best practices applied across the organization. Cloud/Infra fundamentals: AWS primitives, security best practices, containerization, IaC. SRE knowledge: SLOs, error budgets, incident response. Passion for AI alignment and automation. Curiosity about future of agentic workflows. Compensation & Benefits The starting pay range in the United States (including Illinois and Colorado) is $193,800—$285,000 USD, depending on location and experience.
