Job Opportunity: Cardiologist

Our organization is seeking a passionate, motivated, and caring Cardiologist to join the North Texas VA Healthcare System.

Facility Overview

The medical center located in Leavenworth, Kansas, is part of the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System. This facility offers a wide range of health care services to Veterans, including:

• Primary care
• Specialty care
• Mental health services
• Long-term care
• Rehabilitation

Established in 1885, the center is situated on a historic campus and serves numerous Veterans from northeastern Kansas and nearby regions, including those from metropolitan Kansas City, rural areas, and tribal lands. The facility collaborates academically with the University of Kansas School of Medicine and various local nursing and pharmacy schools to train future health professionals.

Facilities and Features

• Inpatient and Outpatient Care: The center has 91 beds dedicated to acute and long-term care, along with extensive outpatient services.
• Historic Campus: Originally founded for Civil War Veterans, several buildings on the campus are recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.

Position Responsibilities

The Cardiologist at the Leavenworth VA Medical Center will focus on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiac and cardiovascular diseases affecting Veterans. Key responsibilities include:

• Direct Patient Care: Assessing, diagnosing, and managing cardiac conditions in both outpatient and inpatient environments.
• Diagnostic Tests: Conducting and interpreting tests such as echocardiograms, stress tests, ECGs, and other cardiovascular procedures.
• Collaboration: Working alongside primary care providers, surgeons, pharmacists, nurses, and other specialists to create comprehensive treatment plans.
• Patient and Family Education: Communicating diagnoses, procedures, medications, and lifestyle changes to enhance heart health.
• Consultation Services: Providing expert advice to other medical professionals on complex cardiac cases and management strategies.
• Quality Improvement Participation: Engaging in clinical reviews, performance enhancement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with VA policies and best practices.
• Teaching and Training: Instructing residents, medical students, and staff as needed.

All duties will be performed in alignment with VA regulations and the commitment to delivering high-quality care to Veterans.

Working Conditions

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with some flexibility to be discussed during the interview process. There is no on-call requirement.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $300,000 and $400,000, along with potential recruitment incentives and participation in the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).
