We currently have an opportunity for a well-rounded and seasoned Accounting Manager - Hotel to join our Pier Sixty-Six Resort opening team!

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance you will manage and provide be responsible for the oversight and management of day-to-day accounting of the resort, including the preparation of monthly financial statements, oversight and participation in the monthly close process, payroll processing, and daily management of general ledger positions, income audit, and accounts payable/receivable. This position will assist in manage the accounting team, providing oversight and training to maximize the team's capabilities while attracting and retaining talent. This position will be expected to be on-site for the majority of each week, with the potential to shift to remote for one to two days a week depending on job duties and performance.

The Accounting Manager will ensure that financials, and their related support, are prepared in accordance with GAAP and that transactions are processed accurately and timely. This position will coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements with the Corporate ensuring that all ownership, audit and tax deadlines are met.

This role will be integral in identifying process improvement opportunities, seeking out efficiencies, and implementing technology to allow the team to focus on the highest value activities and reduce redundancy and/or waste in overall process flow.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the income audit, payroll, and general ledger functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This role partners closely with budget owners across the resort, manages internal and external audit processes, and provides leadership and development support to the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

• Manage the daily operations and work schedules of the income audit, payroll, and general ledger teams
• Monitor daily operational and flash reports for accuracy and completeness

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, including analysis against budget and forecast
• Timely and confidently answer questions from budget owners regarding financial results; build strong working relationships grounded in trust, knowledge, and collaboration
• Review monthly departmental COGS to ensure the relationship to sales is reasonable and correct

Inventory Oversight

• Oversee month-end inventories and perform test counts
• Investigate variances, review resulting adjustments, and make recommendations on procedural changes to reduce future variances

Audit & Compliance

• Manage internal and external audits; institute procedures and controls as needed to respond to findings
• Support all requests related to the income tax return
• Oversee the filing and payment of monthly and quarterly taxes
• File the quarterly workers' compensation return

Team Leadership & Development

• • Provide oversight to the accounting team
  • Actively work with each team member on their development goals and identify training opportunities
  • Manage highly engaged and effective remote and in-person teams

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Accounting or Business Administration
• 4 to 6 years of progressive accounting experience; Hospitality and/or auditing experience strongly preferred
• Previous supervisory experience required
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Experience implementing new technology and changing processes, including training team members to fully utilize improvements
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications
• Excellent computer skills, including experience with integrated accounting software systems; experience with Oracle and Procurement software a plus
• Strong attention to detail, paired with critical thinking to interpret what the detail indicates and whether it makes sense within the broader context

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain in a stationary position at a desk/computer for extended periods, up to 7-8 hours per day
• Frequent use of hands/fingers for typing, data entry, and operating a computer, keyboard, calculator, and other standard office equipment
• Ability to see and read fine print, financial statements, and reports on a computer screen for extended periods, with visual acuity sufficient to detect numerical discrepancies
• Ability to hear and communicate clearly in person, by phone, and via video conferencing to lead a hybrid team of remote and in-person staff
• Occasional walking throughout the property to observe and support month-end inventory counts in storage areas, kitchens, F&B outlets, and other departments
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move materials up to 15-25 lbs (e.g., inventory documentation, file boxes, audit records)
• Occasional bending, reaching, kneeling, or crouching when performing or observing physical inventory test counts
• Ability to work extended and/or flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed during month-end close, tax filing deadlines, and audit periods
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate computers, printers, scanners, and other office/accounting equipment
