Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist II with pediatric experience and RRT certification for a day shift position in a pediatric respiratory care services unit.

Details

• Pediatric Respiratory Care Services unit at an academic medical center
• Day shift, 7:00am – 7:00pm, 12-hour shifts
• 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
• On-call required approximately 1 weekend every 6 weeks
• Weekend shifts required approximately 6 shifts per 6-week period
• Holiday coverage required on an every-other-holiday (EOH) basis
• Procedures include airway management, mechanical ventilation, aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, tracheostomy care, endotracheal intubation/extubation, and bedside pulmonary function testing
• High Frequency Jet Ventilator and High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilator experience utilized in this role
• ECMO management responsibilities may be required
• May involve transport of pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals per air care protocol

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Pediatric RT experience required
• Current RRT certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• At least one of the following certifications required based on practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, or CPFT — or an advanced practice certificate to administer moderate sedation in a Bronchoscopy Lab
• High Frequency Jet Ventilator experience required
• High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilator experience required
• Proficiency in ECMO management
• Ability to perform clinical information analysis, documentation, and effective communication with patients, families, and clinical staff
• License required if applicable
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Administers advanced respiratory care including ventilator management, aerosol medication delivery, arterial punctures, and blood glucose monitoring
• May perform advanced practice procedures including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, and ABGs per air care protocol
• May manage extracorporeal circulation (ECMO) for cardiac and respiratory support
• Functions independently with minimal supervision and serves as a clinical resource to other staff
• Maintains and continuously improves job knowledge and clinical skills
• Drug screening must be completed within 24 hours of commitment to the position; background check and drug screen results may take at least 2 weeks to process
